The out pouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Moravian Church on August 13, 1727, changed the course of the Church forever. The Church realized that the oppressive spirit of division, destruction and Death was a satanic spirit. The Holy Spirit burned away the impurities, united them and set them free to serve the one and only God. The Church though has had to undergo tremendous challenges over the years from negative, fearful, apprehensive persons and those who lack faith in the ability of God to do what he says he will do. The word of God declares, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".

As a church our hope is in God even against the odds. When Goliath came up against the Israelites, the soldiers all thought, he is so big we can never hurt or kill him. On the other hand David exercised his faith, looked at the same giant and thought, he is so big I can't miss Him. The church must think like this at all times. With God by our side there is nothing that we cannot achieve.

The future of the Moravian Church not only looks bright when the attitude is right, but also the present is much more enjoyable. The positive person understands that the journey is as enjoyable as the destination. As we reflect upon the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church, every Moravian is challenged to have an open and positive spirit. The story of two masons can help us as a church. “One day a man was watching two masons working on a building. He noticed that one worker continually frowned, groaned and cursed his labours. When asked what he was doing, he replied, just piling one stone on top of another all day long until my back is about to break. The other mason whistled as he worked. His movements were swift and sure and his face was aglow with satisfaction. When asked what he was doing, he replied, sir, I'm not just making a stone wall. I'm helping to build a cathedral”.

Each person within the church, has a unique part in the Kingdom of God. As a Moravian Church, we too ought to be kingdom builders, for we are not just a social organization. The Moravian Church is Biblically based and Christ centred. Our seal encourages positive thinking, “Our Lamb Has Conquered, Let Us follow Him".
