Moravian Moment # 178 — Our Lamb Has Conquered |
August 15, 2010
Agnus Dei is a Latin term meaning Lamb of God, and was originally used to refer to Jesus Christ in his role of the perfect sacrificial offering that atones for the sins of humanity in Christian theology, stretching back to ancient Jewish Temple sacrifices. The phrase "Agnus Dei"or Lamb of God is the emblem of the Moravian Church and stands in a prominent position in every Moravian Sanctuary. The Moravian Church sees the victorious Lamb of God as quintessential to the development of our faith. There is no celebration over a powerless, defeated, dead and unreliable Christ. We worship a risen Christ who has been victorious over sin, death, the grave and the devil.

August 08, 2010
WHEN WE think of Emancipation the words freedom and deliverance come to mind and people often think of the positive role played by local churches.
This perception of the influence of the church is due in part to the perception of the planters of the early 19th century. In their minds, the missionaries working among the people were responsible for the series of rebellion and revolt, which preceded the 1834 Act of Emancipation.
The Moravian Church was the first to have begun missionary work among the people kept as slaves and was already 102 years in the Eastern West Indies Province at the time of Emancipation on August 01, 1734.

No matter whether one is sympathetic toward the idea of revivals or not, if he wants to study the question thoroughly, he cannot afford to overlook the history and teachings of the Moravians. Moravian Moment # 176 — An insight in Moravian Heritage |
July 25, 2010
There has always been talk as to our Moravian Heritage. Some person’s think that we have strayed from what our forebears handed down to us and that we have adopted other traditions rather than holding dear to what is uniquely ours. On the other hand, there are those who believe that if the Moravian Church is going to survive in these times, it has to develop new and dynamic ways to share the gospel. I thought that it would be useful to give an insight into Moravian Heritage.

Moravian Moment # 167 — Moravian Revival: A Modern Pentecost - Part 1 |
May 23, 2010
The Moravians, a refugee colony from Bohemia, settled on the estates of Count Nicholas Zinzendorf in Herrnhut, Germany, where a powerful revival began in 1727. It launched 100 years of continuous prayer and within 25 years 100 Moravians were missionaries, more than the rest of the Protestant church had sent out in two centuries.
The Holy Ghost came upon them and great signs and wonders took place in their midst. From that time scarcely a day passed without them experiencing the Almighty working amongst them.
